EAT YOUR HEART OUT, JACKSON POLLOCK

The American action painter’s famous postwar oeuvre featured huge canvases filled with flung splats and directed drips in a layered lacework of  seemingly shapeless hues that nonetheless projected energy and motion.  This quilt is meant to be similarly random, colorful, and mobile, and uses instead overlapping skeins of meandering matter as if seen under a microscope to suggest the complexity of organic life. In a private collection.
